As you are aware, the situation relating to Coronavirus is very fluid and the Government’s advice changes regularly as the situation develops. Therefore, we have not been sending you generic advice as it’s likely to be out of date as soon as we’ve sent it. However, you may find it useful to send the following out to your teams:
Given the current Coronavirus situation both in the UK and abroad, we are keen to ensure that we do everything we can to protect ourselves and those we come into contact with. Whilst this situation continues, the best source of information is the Government’s website which has links to the relevant other agencies. This advice is updated at least daily and will keep us all abreast of the current situation and advice. Therefore, I would ask you to visit https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response on a daily basis and ensure that you comply with the advice given there.
In order to ensure that we are aware of individual situations, please let me know if there is anything I can do to support you.
Additionally, please let me know if you travel outside of the UK (including for personal travel) so that we can ensure that, as a business, we comply with the Government advice in relation to people returning to the UK from abroad. Please be aware that the Government has said that anyone self-isolating on medical advice and in line with the latest advice published on the website (above) will be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay from day 1 rather than the current day 4. However, it is unclear whether than will apply immediately or from 1st April 2020. This change to SSP will not apply to other types of sickness absences.
Let’s all work together to minimise the risks:
- Wash our hands for at least 20 seconds on a regular basis especially on entering the building
- Clean the ‘phones and keyboards regularly
- Clean door handles and handrails regularly
- Ensure that there is soap and nail brushes in the toilets and any other sinks
- Ensure that there are boxes of tissues around the building and use them to catch coughs and sneezes – disposal of used tissues immediately
- Use antibacterial gel when appropriate
