As you will be aware, the Government is clear that some areas of work are critical to the country’s efforts to fight COVID-19 and to keep the country safe and critical services running.
If the work you undertake is deemed to be “Critical Work” then you can continue to operate and the employees continue to work; however you may be working at reduced capacity (e.g. emergency call-outs only, as demand reduces etc.) and might therefore Furlough some but not all of your employees. Think carefully about, and have a firm rationale for, your reasons for Furloughing some employees and not others – be careful about claims of discriminatory selection.
Please see separate our email regarding Furlough Leave and how to implement that.
Please let us know any queries you have, and we’ll be happy to advise.
