As many of you are starting to bring your team members back to work and new questions come forward, we thought it was timely to send another update and provide a further resource for you to use.
Following on from recent Government actions on people returning from Spain and the ever-changing regulations we thought it would be useful to draft a policy to cover travel, both within the UK and abroad, which you can issue to your employees.
Some of our clients are facing issues where employees have travelled abroad and are now, in some cases, having issues returning to the UK and/or having to self-isolate on their return. This will apply equally to people who travel on holiday, to visit family and those returning to the UK having spent lockdown/furlough abroad.
Hopefully being clear, transparent and upfront, with your teams will help to prevent unnecessary problems relating to returning to work whether following a holiday or as furlough ends and ensure that everyone is clear on the implications and help them plan and prepare in advance.
You can gain access to this policy by subscribing to our Advice Line scheme.
Keeping in touch with furloughed employees, ensuring that they are aware of the current business situation and your future plans is key. We suggest that you may wish to raise this issue with your furloughed employees, and issue this policy to them, before you face a difficult conversation. Giving employees an early heads-up on potential return dates so that they can plan their return to allow for self-isolation prior to returning to work will be helpful to both you and your team members.
