What was the challenge the client was facing?
This Charity in Bristol is developing and delivering a new way of building homes. This is a small charity with a big agenda to resolve issues relating to homelessness and lack of affordable housing stock.
Having been operating for a time, the organisation reviewed its structure to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
As a result, a reorganisation took place which involved closing part of the business with the result that some employees were at risk of redundancy.
The organisation engaged with enlightenHR to provide expert HR advice regarding the redundancy process to ensure that it actedl egally and fairly towards its employees.
As part of this process, it was decided to review the organisation design and subsequently restructure the organisation.
What we did
By adopting, on the advice of and with our support, HR best practice, ensuring that concerns were recognised and addressed leading to an harmonious restructuring where employees affected by redundancy were successfully appointed to roles within the new structure.
To set up and adopt HR best practice, areas of ‘non-compliance’ have been addressed ensuring that the organisation can focus on its core objectives without niggling employee relations issues in the background.
For the Leaders within the organisation this is a massive win, reducing stress and time away from the achieving the vision of the charity.
Result
Each colleague was considered based on their personal circumstances rather than a blanket dictate which meant that colleagues felt listened to and treated as an individual.
The organisation was able to navigate the minefield of COVID-19, ensuring that they took care of their colleagues whilst continuing to provide vital support to the older communities they engage with. Engaging enlightenHR in this process elevated stress within the senior leadership team as they knew they were accessing the most accurate and up-to-date information and being advised on the best way to apply that to individual situations; this enabled them to get on with the job in hand.
